Ministry of Education and Renmin University of China Center for Research on Educational Development and Public Policy

The Ministry of Education andRenmin University of China Center for Research on Educational Development and Public Policy is an important decision-making consulting and policy research institution for major strategic issues, jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Renmin University of China, and officially founded on July 14, 2011. The Center aims to serve the development of the national education cause by conducting comprehensive, forward-looking, and practical strategic research on major issues and key areas of education and economic and social development, becoming an important consulting institution in the field of national education planning and strategy. It is built according to the standards of the key research bases of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education. Leveraging Renmin University of China's unique disciplinary advantages in fields such as finance, management, economics, sociology, education, and law, the Center has become a first-class think tank in the field of education and economic and social development, a high-level academic research center with Chinese characteristics, and an international scientific research cooperation base.

The primary functions of the Center include conducting specialized research and policy consultation, exploring the practice of educational strategy and development planning, advancing the construction of relevant disciplines and research teams, strengthening international cooperative research in educational planning and related fields, and undertaking promotional, educational, training, and evaluation activities. The main research areas encompass educational finance and public educational administration. As an institutional research entity of Renmin University of China, the Center's researchers are characterized by their interdisciplinary, multi-field approach, combining full-time and part-time positions, and include a group of well-known domestic experts and scholars in the field of educational finance and public policy, such as Professor Ji Baocheng, ProfessorYuan Wei, ProfessorGuo Qingwang, ProfessorDong Keyong, ProfessorQin Huimin, ProfessorHu Juan, and ProfessorLi Liguo.

The director of the Centerwas held by Professor Ji Baocheng, the president of Renmin University of China, with Professor Yuan Wei, the director of the China Survey and Data Center, serving as the executive deputy director. Professors Hu Juan and Li Liguo each serve as the executive deputy directors. The Center is organized into four functional units: the Educational Finance Research Office, Educational Policy Research Office, Educational Development Strategy Research Office, and the Administrative Office.

As comrade Lu Xin, former vice-minister of education, stated during the center's establishment ceremony on July 14, 2011, the joint establishment of the Center for Educational Development and Public Policy by the Ministry of Education and Renmin University of China holds significant historical importance. It marks the establishment of a high-quality platform in China's field of educational public policy research that can build consensus and integrate resources. The Center has constructed a new scientific research system framework, relying on several advantageous disciplines of Renmin University to jointly research various macro policy issues faced in China's development. It provides decision-making consultation services for the Central Committee of the Communist Party, the State Council, and various ministries and commissions. It is hoped that after its establishment, the Center will better serve the strategy of the Party and the state, the needs of the people, and the self-construction of Renmin University, becoming a decision-making service center, a consulting center, a think tank, and a center for the construction of first-class disciplines.
